Subject: Golf Course Maintenance and Landscape Update
Overview
- After
a month long stretch of dry and cold weather we received close to 4 inches
of rain over a 3 day period last week which benefited the golf course
greatly
- The
courses are in good shape. We have
begun lightly stimulating the turf on tees and fairways to encourage
moderate growth. Roughs will be addressed next week.
- We
have started our Monterey Pine tree removal project in the common
landscape and in certain areas on the golf course. The Monterey Pines have pitch canker,
which is a fatal disease. In this
weakened state they are also suffering from turpentine beetle, mites and
scale. Structurally they can
become a hazard so it was determined by arborists that it would be best to
remove them and plant a more adaptive species (TBD by the Landscape
Committee).
- We
installed new trees in School House Park
Updates and Pending
Issues
- We
have completed the cleanup of the environmental area near #10 green
- The
community handled the deluge of rain very well. There were issues where we had cleared tulles in the creeks
which created some blockage near our bridges on the golf course. We have removed this debris.
- Migratory
flocks of geese are being dealt with daily by the Goose Patrol and staff
