General Meeting
May 7, 2008
Call to Order
- Phil Hart, President, called the meeting to order
at 8:30 am.
Quorum
- Jack Chittick, Membership Chair, reported that
there were 68 members present representing a quorum.
Minutes from previous
meeting
- Rodger Page, Secretary, and Phil Hart noted
several highlights of the previous meeting. The minutes were approved as submitted.
Treasurers Report
- Don Hug, Treasurer, reported that the balance for
all bank accounts was $14,392.62.
Don also commented on several income/expense items as well as
noting that the club had donated $100.00 to the SCR Foundation Golf
Tournament. The Treasurer's
Report was approved.
Proshop
- Mark Gouger, Head Golf Professional, commented on
the terrific condition of the Golf Course.
- Mark reported on the refurbishment of the shop to
enhance appearance and business is in process with work to be done in
July/August and a grand reopening scheduled for September.
- He reported that the Jr/Sr Scholarship Tournament
would be held July 18th and that sign-ups would be taken
starting June 1st.
Cost to be a donation of $25.00 to the scholarship fund plus green
fees. Mark also noted that
golf passes would be come available June 1st with no increase
except for a modest increase in the daily fee co-pay.
Golf Course
- Jim Ferrin, Superintendent, reported on work in
several areas, in particular the work on #10 to turn it into a hole
representing US Open conditions.
There will be a number of promotional activities during US Open
week calling attention to our golf course and supporting two charities,
Blue Star Moms, and Clubs for Kids.
Hole in One
- Phil reported that Dick Mann had made a hole in
one on #14, April 15th and presented him with a flag
embroidered by Ernie Bell and a check for $50.00
Committee Reports
- Travel Events:
Dick Gilberg announced that the Auburn event was a success and that
he had paid 50% of the field.
He noted there were only 18 signed up for Empire Ranch due to a number
of conflicts during June. Dick also noted that there were no changes on
the web site.
- Rules:
Dick Mann, Chair, commented a
rule that allows a player to ask another player to mark and lift a ball if
it may interfere with his play, even when not on the green. Dick also noted that the ball
removed, if not on the green, shall not be cleaned, and shall be replaced
in its original position. The
player asked may choose to play first rather than lifting his ball. Dick also noted that a player may
play his ball from a hazard marked with Red or Yellow stakes providing
that the stakes are not green tipped.
- Membership: Jack Chittick,
Chair announced that we now have 382 members and introduced the latest
members. He also introduced a visitor and prospective member. He asked
that you try to keep Jack informed of your email address through the Men's
Club web site. Also, if you have questions regarding your membership you
can email Jack at TCMGC2@COMCAST.NET Please call him or email him if you
have friends that might be interested in our club.
- RAMP and Golf Committee: Joe Lavette, Chair noted that we are now in the
non-smoking season and we should remind each other of the fact. The Golf Committee today will be
discussing replacement of trees and are asking for resident input. They will also be discussing an
ADA requirement that we have an ADA type golf cart available.
- Handicaps: Paul Wilmoth
reported on an e-golfer program available through the NCGA for individuals
to track their own statistics, greens in regulation, putts etc
- Putting Tournament: Rodger Page,
Chair reported that 60 had paid, 56 played and in the final, Jack Anderson
made a 36 foot putt for the win on the 21st hole of the play
off with Ed Lick.
- Tournaments: Martin Wolf, Chair, discussed the ongoing Medal Play
Championship and the Member/Member Classic June 24and 25 and hoped that
there would be a good response.
- NCGA Tournaments:
Martin Wolf reported for Bill Aaberg that that qualification for
the 4 ball Sr. net will be June 10th.
Old Business
Phil
Hart reported on plans for the Sun City Cup with Lincoln Hills. This event will be August 15th,
with 40 players from each club.
The start will be a 7:30 shotgun with lunch and prizes awarded following
play.
Phil
announced the proposed Member/Guest scheduled for September 12th
with both handicap and non handicap flights.
He
also noted that John Jameson is our Official Photographer.
Sweeps. Phil reported that of the last 11
events, there was an avg. of 65 player players. 71 members w/winnings. 2
were winners 4x, 6 were winners 3x, 18 were winners 2x and 45 were winners
once.
- Phil noted that there will be no June meeting.
Door Prizes: Several
door prizes were given out. The
$25.00 gift card was won by an Òundisclosed recipientÓ because I did not get
his name down.
