C. New vertidrain equipment will improve greens.
A number of questions were asked from members:
1. Problem with algae in ponds? Troy indicated that this was being worked on. Is a long process.
2. Dallas grass reappearing? Work being done to eradicate weed grasses.
3. Radio controlled equipment for Timber Creek? Troy noted that this is in the budget for next year.
4. Repair of #11 and #12 green? Troy noted that these are being allowed to heal rather than replace portions.
5. Status of Madison and other dog patrols? Troy did not know about other dogs, but noted that Madison is now out doing her job.
6. Rakes in or out of bunkers? Troy noted that it is preferred that the rakes be left entirely in the bunkers, it increases the efficiency of the maintenance crew. Does realize that it creates some rules questions.
7. Yardage markers, When? Problem still being worked and hope to complete following completion of irrigation work at SP.
(Additional details on some of these issues will be found in the Golf Committee report for this date)
Proshop
Mark Gouger, Head Golf Professional, commented on the refurbishment of the shop to enhance appearance and business. It will be a 1st Class Proshop to compliment a 1st Class Golf Course Work. Expected completion is August 15th with a grand reopening. He also noted that Union Bank has expressed some interest in taking a large sponsorship roll in the tournament.
Mark also noted that Chris Beachley has been promoted to Associate Golf Professional.
Mark then discussed Pace of Play and noted several things that can be done to increase PoP:
1. Do not observe "honors" but play "ready golf"
2. Drop your partner at his ball and go to yours if you will not interfere with others play.
3. Know the rules; carry a rule book and if in doubt play two balls.
4. Pay attention to the group ahead and keep up,
5. After hitting, get in the cart, and put club that you just used, back in the bag at the next shot location.
Mark was given a nice Thank You from the members and he and the staff appreciate that.
