General Meeting
November 5, 2008
Call to Order
Phil Hart, President, called the meeting to order at 8:30 am.
Quorum
Jack Chittick reported that there were 80 some members present representing a quorum. (actual sign ins were 97)
Special Presentation: Proposed Sierra Pines expansion Project. Phil Hart introduced Ed Daley who gave a short introduction to the project. Ed then introduced Pete Franz who gave an overview of the significance and the need for the expansion of the Sierra Pines Clubhouse facility. Pete then introduced Dave Axthelm who gave a detailed review of the architectural design and facility equipment changes and some explanation for the needs. Pete then discussed the post construction financial impacts as presently understood and estimated. Following the presentation there was a short question and answer period. The presenters were thanked for the information.
Old Business and Vice PresidentÕs Report: Roy Lloyd did some of the raffle prizes and reported on the upcoming Holiday Party, scheduled for December 3rd with oodles (RoyÕs word) of door prizes and fun for all. The annual skills challenge will follow breakfast. Ed. Note: Last month the number of door prizes was a jillion, also RoyÕs word. The gift certificate was won by Roger Engels, Past President.
Golf Course
Jim Ferrin, G.C Superintendent, reported on work in several areas:
Arification of hard and dry spots, now that they are not so hard,
Yardage markers on sprinklers is started and should be completed in a couple of weeks,
Water weed removed for #9 pond,
New trees are being planted on edges of some fairways,
Sand replacement in bunkers will be done over the winter,
Working to save redwood trees,
Jim also noted that today was the first frost delay of the winter season.
Proshop
Mark Gouger, Head Golf Professional, showed the latest and greatest Cobra Driver and the new outer wear shirt that he and Jim were wearing. He paid special attention to the fact that the skills challenge is the same day as the Annual Proshop Sale. Everything will be on sale.
Mark noted that a new fitting system by Cobra will soon be available,
There is currently a 20% sale on rain gear,
He is offering a winter coaching program,
Driving range special,
And Thanksgiving Day there will be a 9:00 am shotgun and then the shop will close at 3:00.
Mark also noted that all of this information is on the web site, and in emails.
A question was asked about getting
free relief from a tree well; Mark noted that that should be a club problem.

Rodger Page, Secretary, and Phil
Hart noted several highlights of the previous meeting, October 1st. The minutes were approved as submitted.
Treasurers Report
Don Hug, Treasurer, noted that the balance for all bank accounts was $8657.11. Don also commented on several income/expense items prior to the end of the year and noted that the balance at the end of the year is anticipated to be some $1800.00 indicating sound financial practices. The TreasurerÕs Report was approved.
Committee Reports
Travel Events: no report
Web Site: no report
Rules: Dick Mann, Rules Chair, reported on abnormal ground conditions and that these are covered under the Rules of Golf and are not open to someoneÕs interpretation. He also commented on an occurrence during a tournament where a player found his ball against a metal stake holding a tree up. It was determined that relief is allowed, swing or stance, not line of flight. A member suggested that we should have a local rule regarding relief from tree well. This will be on the next board agenda.
Handicaps: Paul Wilmoth reported on several scorecards with only initials or first name s and offered a free "P" score to anyone that could decipher the cards.
Membership: Jack Chittick noted that there are still 146 who have not renewed as of this date.
Tournaments: Martin Wolf, Chair, announced the winners of the Club Championship Match Play Event. The new Champion is Jack Anderson, 1ts flight, Jerry Lundblad, his third time, 2nd flight Bob Yarrigle, 3rd flight Dick Maxey, and 4th flight Gary Lee. Martin also announced that there were 115 signed up for the Turkey Shoot on the 11th.
Golf Committee: Martin Wolf, Chair, reported that their meeting would be at 2:00pm in the Aspen Room. Items on the agenda include plans for new trees on #7 to replace the Pampas Grass and a potential alternative plan for the RAMP.
New Business:
Phil reported slate of officers for 2009: President Ray Zwemer, Vice President, Joey Mastrantonio, Treasurer, Ed Steele, and Secretary, Rodger Page.
Phil called for nominations from the floor, there were none. Phil then declared the slate be adopted and by unanimous consent they were elected.
Final Remarks: Phil noted that this was his last general meeting as President. The next General Meeting would be February 4, 2009. He thanked the officers, committeemen and all members of the club for the great year and said that he had enjoyed it. He also noted that during the month there had been two holes in one, Bob Yarrigle and Duane Kreun, Phil noted that Duane would receive a flag, but not the $50.00, as his was not witnessed by a member.
Phil also noted that Dick Gilberg was working on a new web site design that would be more user friendly.
Door Prizes: Several more door prizes were given out. The $25.00 gift card as previously noted was won by Roger Engels.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 am.
