The North/South tournament held this week was won by the South. The score was 42.5 for the South and 35.5 for the North. Winnings are posted on the bulletin board.

The inaugural Sun City Cup match was held today between Lincoln Hills Men's Golf Club and Timber Creek Men's Golf Club. The field consisted of 50 players from each team and was played at our home course under a modified Ryder Cup format. Timber Creek won the Sun City Cup Trophy and will retain possession until the 2009 competition when possession of the Trophy will again be contested at Lincoln Hills GC. Congratulations to all those who played. Individual cash prizes were awarded in four flights for low net and closest to pin on #4 & #14.

The next travel tournament will be Monday, August 25 th at Ancil Hoffman GC. Entries are all filled. The final travel event for this year will be to Turkey Creek on Monday, September 29 th . Sign up continues on Tuesday mornings and at our September general meeting. All travel events are $55pp which includes green and cart fees, range balls and prizes. The Oaks/Pines will be the rotation this month for the morning players. This happens on Tuesday, August 26th. Computers will be defaulted to Oaks/Pines blue tees for ease in posting. Scorecards for the Oaks/Pines will be available in the pro shop that morning.

Our next General Meeting is Wednesday, September 3rd. As required by our bylaws the President will announce the nominating committee who will select a slate of officers for our elections in November. Vice President Roy Lloyd has notified the Board that he will not be running for President so the committee will be looking for candidates for all four officers positions.

The Member/Guest Day scheduled for a shotgun start Friday afternoon September 12th is in the planning stages. There will be a lunch and dinner involved. Watch for further details.

The NCGA Senior 4-ball regional qualifying was held at Teal Bend GC on August 7th. It took a best ball 65 or lower to qualify for the championship. Timber Creek had 2 teams in the qualifying round. The team of Lick and Yorston shot 66 and Knight and McHugh shot 73.

If you are signed up to play in a tournament and for some reason you cannot make it please be considerate and notify the pro shop and our Tournament Chairman and let them know.

THE FOLLOWING RULE IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE TIMBER CREEK AND SIERRA PINES COURSES:

EMBEDDED BALL

An Embedded Ball "Through the Green" may be lifted, cleaned, and placed within 12 inches, not nearer the hole. No penalty. Rules Committee, Timber Creek Men's Golf Club

Note: Casual Water (see Definition-page 7 Rules of Golf): Lift and drop within one club of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole. No penalty.
