The St. Patrick’s Day scramble, co-directed by Phil Hart and Fred Amador, is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, March 17th. Over 90 members have already signed up. If still interested in playing check with Phil or Fred as we do get late cancellations. Erin Go Braugh!
Congratulations to Ed Lick (net 66) and Joe Lavette (net 69) who will represent us in the NCGA Senior Net. They advance to regional qualifying on May 7th . The Championship is at Poppy Hills on June 8th and 9th. Wish them well.
Still time to sign-up for the NCGA East Sacramento Zone qualifier with NCGA Chair, Bill Aaberg. It is at Timber Creek, Tuesday March 24th. Regional Championship is at Poppy Hills and the Bayonet Course on May 18 and 19th. The Zone Championship is at Spyglass and Poppy Hills on August 31 and September 1st.
Our 12th Annual Putting Championship will be Friday, April 24th, 2:30pm (practice at 1:30pm) on the putting green at Sierra Pines. Layout will be two 7-hole courses with the final on 14 holes more or less. Defending Champion is Jack Anderson. This is always a fun event with varieties of pizza, beer, soft drinks and a generous prize fund, Entry Fee is $10. Sign up with Tournament Director, Rodger Page, starting April 1 at our General Meeting.
Dick Maxey & Dick Gilberg may still have openings for the season opener, Travel Event at Turkey Creek, Monday, April 13th. Tee times will begin at 8:30am. Entry fee is $55.00 which covers green fee, cart and prizes.
Our “Spring Swing” Tournament has been replaced by several Spirit Days events celebrating the City of Roseville’s 100th Anniversary. Monday, April 20th is an open event at Timber Creek Golf Course with an 8:00am SG start. Members as well as players outside the community are welcome. Entry fee is $10.00 plus green fees.
April 21st and 22nd is a Men’s / Ladies 18 hole and 9 hole Clubs, two-day event with an 8;00am SG start both days. Day 1 is a team scramble. Tee prize is a commemorative coin. Day 2 is best ball of the couple / two best balls of the team. Entry fee is $10.00 per player plus greens fees. Sign up for all events at the Pro Shop. Non tournament players can play any day based on space available.
Rotation day this month is Tuesday, March 24th. Morning players will be hustling back and forth, to and from the Lakes/Pines courses. The posting computer will be defaulted to the lakes and pines that day for ease in posting.
On April Fools Day we begin summer rules so we will be playing the ball down. No Kidding! No more lift, clean and place. On Tuesday, April 7th, shotgun times change to 7:30am and afternoon players remain at 12:30pm through November 1st.
Due to aerification of the greens on March 30th, March 31st and April 1st there will be tee times only on our normal men’s day, Tuesday, March 31st. This will be for 9 holes on the Oaks. Any reservation slips turned in for that day will not be used. You will need to make a reservation for 9 holes only, or two tee times for 18 holes. Contact the Pro Shop if you have any questions.
Come to our General meeting on Wednesday, April 1st. Elaine Lehman, Director, Fitness Center, will be there to talk about: fitness for golfers, changes in the fitness center (which is closed March 21st to April 19th), and tips on what to do in the interim. Mark Gouger will have another golf tip. Coffee and sweets this time at 8:00am with the meeting at 8:30am. Please attend and support your club.
