Timber Creek Men's Golf Club

ItÕs finally beginning to warm up and hopefully drying out a bit, which should make playing golf somewhat more comfortable. It also means we should all become more active in our participation with the MenÕs Club. If you havenÕt heard, our new Tournament Director, Ernie Bell, has planned a bunch of awesome tournaments for the year. Right off the bat, he is going to be adding an Individual Low Net Tournament to be held basically, on the 4th Tuesday of each month, and one is planned for March 23rd, check it out on the bulletin board and get your group signed up. Unfortunately, the ValentineÕs Day Tournament, originally scheduled for February 9th, had to be postponed due to inclement weather, and was held on February 16th. The timing was off for this article so youÕll have to check the bulletin board for the results. The next ÒregularÓ tournament is St. PatrickÕs Day scheduled for next week, March 9th; sign-ups are taking place as you read this article, so if you havenÕt, get signed up quickly!

We also have four NCGA Tournaments planned for the year, and the qualifying round for the first one, Senior Net, will be held on March 16th. Individual play, handicap of 7.5 or higher. The regional qualification for that one is May 13th and the Championship will be at Poppy Hills on June 7th. That will be followed by the East Sacramento Zone on April 16th. The Senior Four-Ball Net is set for June 8th and finally the Team Match Competition, which is a 12 man-team, set to start on June 17th. That one requires a minimum of 15 players and sign-ups are being called for ASAP, see Bill Aaberg to sign up and for any other information you may need.

And if you still have some competitive juices left, donÕt forget about the group that plays every Thursday, no dues, no qualifying rounds and no extra fees. The only qualifiers are to be a member of the MenÕs Club and play to a 26 handicap. If you want to get in on the action, check with Rodger Page.

The next regular Club Meeting will be Wednesday, March 3rd in the ballroom. Last month we had 92 in attendance which is OK, however with 324 members, the attendance could use a shot in the arm, so get your group together and be there, 8 AM for coffee, pastries, and tall tales and the meeting starts promptly at 8:30, guaranteed to have you out before 10AM, as soon as VP Eddie Lewis can give out a bunch of door prizes.

Phil Hart has a belated thank you for all the members (and spouses) that helped the Club deliver some 3100 plus Association Directories back in January. There were 72 volunteers that helped with this monumental task, including the other Golf Clubs also, which saved the association a very good-sized postal bill. Thanks also are due to Phil, who coordinated this whole operation.

A final comment from the Handicap Committee, 1) We could use a couple more golfers

to assist us, and 2) WeÕre not into mind-reading, please, a first and last name on the score card for all the players!

See you at the meeting on the 3rd, and bring your foursome and stand up and be heard!
