HereÕs an update on whatÕs happening in the MenÕs Club over the next 5 or 6 weeks.
Before we get into that, it is hoped that all the members saw the Sacrament Bee golf course report on March 10th. How fortunate we are to live on the course that is Òthe best in the areaÓ, the next time you see Jim Ferrin or one of his guys, give them a thumbs up, they really deserve it!!
Rotation will be Tuesday, March 16th; The Lakes/Pines will be our course for the morning group. Daylight Savings time will be in effect, so it will be a wee bit darker but the afternoon group should be able to complete their 18 holes, barring no more frost delays. The next rotation day is set for April 20th.
Ernie Bell has the next Net Tournament scheduled for Tuesday, March 23rd for all of those who look forward to padding their account in the Pro shop. Our next regular monthly tournament will be the Spring Fling on April 13th; details will be out later so watch the bulletin board for the sign-up dates. Just a tip for those members that arenÕt big fans of the tournaments, the last tournament we had, which was St. PatrickÕs on March 9th, 53 % of the field hit the big bucks!! Those are pretty good odds so you may want to reconsider and give the next one a try. Ernie has told me that he tryÕs to pay about 50% of the field so youÕre bound to make a hit at least once plus it adds a little variation to your golf. Also want to remind all members that the 13th Annual Putting Contest is scheduled at Sierra Pines for April 23rd. Rodger Page will be running that one again and sign-ups will begin on April 1st. Lots of fun, good prizes, beer and pizza so be sure you get in on it. While weÕre on the subject of tournaments, Bill Aaberg is taking sign-ups now for the East Sacramento Zone NCGA tournament being held on April 16th, so look him up for all the details and requirements.
The first Travel event of the year will be April 29th at Cherry Island and Dick Maxey will be the guy coordinating that event for all those who want to check out some of the other courses in the area.
Our very successful RAMP program kicked off another year in March and that is a program that can always handle more volunteers. Great for a chance to stroll your favorite fairway once a month without the pressure of looking for a lost ball. Plus you get a big fat pill (doughnut) when you finish your stroll. Roger Tovey will be glad to take your name.
Winter Rules are out, so no more bumping, kicking or teeing up in the rough or on the fairway, only the Tee box or the green, but do it right.
The next General Meeting will be Wednesday, April 7th. There was some damp weather last month for our meeting and attendance was a very low 78 who ÕbravedÕ the elements to show up. The club membership is at 326 so we should be able to do better and the pastries they serve are really good, so be there!
