This is a quick update of some of the happenings in the Men’s Club over
the next few weeks.
Rotation Day for April will be the 20th of the month and the week after (27th)
Ernie will be conducting one of his popular net tournaments for those who like
a little competition.
The results of the Spring Fling Tournament are shown later in this bulletin,
so the next tournament that everyone should be involved with is the popular
Putting Contest on April 23rd, held at Sierra Pines. This is more social than
competitive, as there seems to be more beer, pizza, and cheering than there
seems to be putting, but the winner does get a heavy dose of recognition. They
are still taking sign-ups so be sure you are going to be part of this one,
see Rodger Page, Ernie Bell, or Phil Hart to get your entry. The final April
tournament will be the aforementioned Net Tournament set for the April 27th.
May has some really big tournaments planned, the first being the Medal Play
Club Championship scheduled over two days, the 11th and 13th. That one is being
run by Bob Yarrigle and David Smith who will be taking sign-ups on Men’s
Day by the time you read this. This is one of the biggies of the year and trophies
are presented to all the Flight winners at the Holiday Brunch in December.
Then on May 21st, sweet revenge! We need 60 golfers to win back the Sun City
Cup being held prisoner by Lincoln Hills. This one includes a continental breakfast,
bbq luncheon, where it is expected the “return of the cup” will
take place along with some heavy-duty bragging rights. Watch for sign-ups,
due to start very shortly. And if you are still in the mood, another Net Tournament
is planned for the 25th. On May 27th, the Travel Tournament will be held at
Cherry Island. So for all those that like to do a little exploring, see Dick
Maxey
Roger Tovey, Chair of the Golf Committee is always in need of R.A.M.P. volunteers,
so contact him if you want to help keep your course looking pristine, it only
takes place once a month, for less than an hour. He could also use some volunteers
for the evening patrols, which will be starting shortly.
