Timber Creek Men's Club

Roy Lloyd

There was no meeting this month, and also no tournaments so it has been relatively quiet for the Men's Club. Ernie has been (still is?) on a well-deserved vacation so it's not clear if there will be a Net Tournament on the 24th, watch the BB for that one. The one big endeavor for the Men's Club will be all wrapped up this afternoon and that was the help we offered the Association to deliver the Community Directories over this past week-end. That entire effort was coordinated (again) by Phil Hart, Mike Cepress, and Rodger Page who handed out assignments to 100 volunteers who in turn delivered them to a bunch of homes over the week-end in perfect weather. A big THANK YOU to all who pitched in, that short effort on your part saves some serious money for the Association! It is appreciated by all the residents.

Our next General Meeting will be on Wednesday, February 1st, doors open about 8, coffee, pastries, chit-chat about the holidays and the meeting will start promptly at 8:30.

Several good reasons why you should be there; Not only is it the first meeting of the year but we have a whole new bunch of guys that will be sitting up front running things for the year, they will want your inputs as to how you want them to manage your club, be sure and sound off! Sign-ups for the first tournament of the year will be taken as well as sign-ups for the Timber Creek Cup 2012! So it is important for you and your foursome to be there and take part and be heard.

That first tournament referred to will be the Valentine's Day Tournament, surprisingly enough, it's scheduled for the 14th, and the format is the fabulous 'Pink Ball'. Probably the most fun of all the Tournaments held, if you've played in it before, you know and if you haven't, you don't want to miss this fiasco! The dynamic duo of Joe Rodriguez and Jim Erskine are running it again and they will be doing the sign-ups. Also at a table in the back will be Ray Zwemer, taking sign-ups for the Timber Creek Cup 2012. This was deemed a success in its first year last year as over 30% of the participants got in the payout column. Ray has already contacted and received donations from four of last years sponsors, and they are: Coldwell Banker, Gilchrist Golf Cars, Whisper Hearing Center, and Grahl Financial Advisors, so if you're doing business with any of them, give them a big thanks from the Men's Club. The sign-up fee is still just $10.00 and the Valentines Day Tournament is scheduled as the kick-off qualifier. If you want additional information, Ray can help you.

Never let it be said that this new administration doesn't communicate in advance of any upcoming events or non-events, and a very good example of that is that there will not be a July Meeting this year. It seems that we have been bounced by our Nation's Birthday, so July 4th, 2012-No Meeting! One other item that may bear some watching is the fact that the membership has dropped this year by about 10%, so the budget may have to be re-visited, stay tuned on that one. But in the meantime, check with that new neighbor down the street and invite him to the next meeting, maybe he'll want to join!

We all are aware of how much our new president, Ed Lick enjoys a round of golf, lots of time more than one per day. How many of you can say you played 320 rounds last year? Also, how many of you were able to shoot your age last year? Ed did both, and in fact he wrapped up the year shooting his age--------at 6 under!!! Way to go, Ed!

See you on the 1st, in the ballroom, 8 AM and bring your buddies!!
