Timber Creek Men’s Golf Club
Roy Lloyd
The first meeting of the New Year, way back on February 2nd, was not
too well attended, only 67 hearty souls showed up! If my arithmetic is
correct, that is less than a 25% turnout! Our next meeting is set for
March 2nd and I have been told that the pastries for this one are going
to really be good, so get the whole group together and be there, doors
open about 8 and meeting starts at 8:30. Let’s shoot for at least
40% at this one.
The Valentines Day Tournament, which was just completed a week ago, had
about 100 members participate, which is not bad but could be better.
The results are posted on the bulletin board and on the website. This
was the jump-off tournament for the Timber Creek Cup and four members
are off and running with 50 points each. They are: Ed Lick, Bill Manning,
Bill Ledoux and John Rowley. Keep in mind that this thing is going to
put some big bucks in someone’s pocket when it’s all over
and it might as well be yours. See John Rowley or Ray Zwemer to be part
of it and no, it is not too late, as your five best tournaments will
be counted, so as long as five qualifying tournaments remain to be played
you can sign up for a one time fee of $10. In addition to the fees as
prize money, there are five sponsors that have each anteed up $100, which
puts this thing right up there with the Fed-Ex Cup! Those sponsors are;
Gilchrist Golf Carts, Coldwell Banker, Peck Heating and Air, Whisper
Hearing Center and Westlake, Grahl and Glover so if you have a chance
to do so, thank them for their sponsorship.
The next tournament will be the Net Tournament scheduled for the 22nd,
a nice low-pressure way to pad your account. These tournaments are held
on the fourth Tuesday of every month, see Ernie Bell for all the details.
The next regular tournament, St. Patrick’s Day, is set for March
8th; sign-ups will start next week on the patio at Men’s Day. The
format is not available at this time but with Bill Matthews and Tom Shively
running it, it will be worth getting on board. Something new for the
coming year, every 5th Tuesday, there are about eight (8) of them, will
be “Choose Up”, and the Pro Shop will randomly assign all
players to foursomes, a chance to meet and beat someone new!
RAMP will be starting in March, be sure you are part of it, as it’s
a nice way to enjoy the course without having to look for your golf ball
plus they have coffee and donuts after you finish. We have been pre-empted
for our June meeting, so stay tuned and we’ll let you know of a
reschedule or if it will be cancelled.
Fill your divots, rake the bunkers and repair two ball marks and enjoy
our beautiful golf course!
