Well, our meeting on March 2 did not hit the 40 % that we had hoped for,
as a matter fact, it did not even make 30%!!! The weather is getting
a wee bit more comfortable so everyone should really be starting to get ‘cabin
fever’ and that should mean more golf, which should mean better
turn-outs at the meetings!! The next one is scheduled for April 6th,
doors open at around 8 for some coffee, pastries and trivial conversation,
Eddie will slam down the gavel at exactly 8:30 and you’ll be outta
there way before 10. Let’s do it!!!
The St. Patrick’s Day Tournament was just completed a week ago
and those results are posted on the bulletin board and also on the website.
The next one coming up is the Spring Fling, on April 12th, no format
yet, but Jack McKinney and Jim Hackbarth are running it, so it will be
a good one. Sign-ups will start around the 29th of March, so watch for
the flyer to get all that good information and be sure and get the whole
group in on it. Dick Maxey also will be running a travel tournament to
Auburn Valley on the 18th of April, so see him to get a chance to try
that course, it is a Cup qualifier. And be sure and X out April 22nd
on your calendar because that’s the day of the Annual Putting contest
held at the Pines. This has got to be the biggest and best fun day of
the year for our club, beer, pizza, cheers and jeers and some putting
is also included. Make sure you are in it, Roy Stearns has all the information.
The tournaments for the month will wrap up with Ernie’s popular
Net on the 26th, that’s the easy one that helps pad the pro shop
account, try it, you’ll like it!
We have a few holes in one to report and I have been assured that our
budget will cover them: Ed Hageman got one on February 11th, #5 at the
Pines with a five iron, Bill Giglio nailed #16 with a seven iron on February
26th and Bob Meline aced # 6 on March 9th with a 9 iron. A big congratulations
to them all. I can only hope that their budget will cover the bar tab!
As of today we have 93 members signed up for the Timber Creek Cup, that
number should be about double! For a one time $10.00 entry fee, you are
signed up for the year and this one is going to generate a very nice
pay-day for someone, your chances are just as good as anyone’s.
All the entry fee’s go into the pot, plus the sponsors, and we
have five of them that have each kicked in $100, so we are getting serious
now. Those generous sponsors by the way are; Gilchrist Golf Carts, Coldwell
Banker, Peck Heating and Air, Whisper Hearing Center and Westlake, Grahl
and Glover, so if you have the opportunity, thank them for their participation.
Volunteers needed for the Goose Patrol, RAMP, and Adopt a Hole, see Fred
Haseley and get active in your club, besides the weather is starting
to be a little more friendly. Also, see Ernie Bell, he is always in need
of tournament volunteers.
Remember to fill your divots, repair ball marks (at least 2) and rake
the bunkers!!!
