The Putting Championship is just a week away and you can still get in
on it. It’s next Friday, April 22 at the Pines Putting Green. “Tee
off” is set for 2:30, get there early and they’ll let you
practice. Ten dollars will get you the opportunity to knock off Jack
McKinney, reigning champion, and a chance at some huge prizes, eat some
good pizza,
have a beer or two or a soft drink. This is the big fun event of the
year, if you are not yet signed up give a call to Roy Stearns @ 771-8094,
but make it quick!
The Spring Swing Tournament wrapped up this past Tuesday and it had 110
members taking part with about a 40% payout, so for those members that
chose not to play, you missed a pretty good chance to get a huge payback!
The Travel group is set to go to Auburn Valley on Monday (18th). It may
be too late to get in on it, but give Dick Maxey a call; he might be
able pull off a Maxey Miracle. The next tournament will be Ernie’s
Net on April 26th, get signed up on that day in the Pro Shop, it’s
a nice easy way to pad your account.
The next big tournament will be the Club Championship, Medal Play set
to go on May 10th and 12th. Sign-ups will be taken starting on Men’s
Day on the 26th (I think) so watch for whenever Bob Yarrigle and Dave
Smith are on the patio, they’re the guys that are running it. Winners
will be presented with some very fine trophies at the Holiday Brunch
in December.
Out next General Meeting will be Wednesday, May 4th, doors will open
a little before 8, Eddie will be serving pastries and coffee and the
meeting starts promptly at 8:30, guaranteed to have you out of there
before 10, right after Ed Lick hands out about a jillion door prizes,
how can you not go?
The Timber Creek Cup is off and running and at the front of the pack
right now is John Rowley, but there is lots of time to still get in on
some serious money and plenty of time to catch John. They are taking
sign-ups at all Men’s Day events on the patio and also at all the
General Meetings. Big money on this one for the final winner, made possible
by five outside sponsors that have anteed up big time. They are: Coldwell
Banker, Gilchrist Golf Carts, Peck Heating and Air, Whisper Hearing Center
and Grahl Financial Advisors, if you have an opportunity to deal with
any of them, give them a big thanks from the Men’s Club, their
support is really appreciated.
If you are so inclined and would really like to help out your club, call
Fred Hasley, Chair of the Golf Committee, he is looking for a new RAMP
coordinator, get involved.
We have another hole-in-one to report, John Beach got one on number 6
on March 8th using an 8 iron, way to go John.
The weather seems to be finally cooperating with golfers so get out and
enjoy our great course and remember to fill your divots, rake the bunkers
and repair at least two ball marks.
Mark the calendar---------MAY 4TH, 8 AM IN THE BALLROOM.
