July E-Bulletin
Timber Creek Men’s Golf Club
Roy Lloyd
The results from the recent Firecracker Tournament are up and posted, and it appears that there was a very good turnout, so why can’t you all show up for the General Meeting? The next one is set for August 3rd in the ballroom, meeting starts at 8:30 and you’re out of there before 10. Ed Lick hands out so many raffle prizes, that it almost a one to one ratio! Be there! The next tournament will be Ernie’s Net on the 26th of July (4th Tuesday) give it a try, its easy going and a sure way to pad your account (almost). The next tournament will be the North/South set to go on August 9th. Jerry Jackson is the General for the North and Howard Cabazas will lead the South, sign-ups are set to start on July 26th. It is going to be match play, one Yankee against one Rebel, head to head, should be fun, be sure and get in on it. Then on the 12th of August the “Hot” August Mixer is set, there is a sign-up folder in the pro shop. This one is a “Hot” Texas Scramble, 2 women and 2 men; followed by a buffet, sign up as a team or as an individual; lots of fun. For more information call Janet Smith @771-8045 or Roberta Daley @782-5360. Ernie has a full complement ready to go to Lincoln Hills on August 22nd and retrieve the Cup, however there are always cancellations, so check with him and get on stand-by.
Two more holes in one to report, Bob Robertson got his at #4 on June 16th and Ed Lick nailed # 6 on June 25th, congratulations to both. Ask Ed what he did on #6 the next time he played it!
Bill Aaberg has reported that Kaz Seo raised over $2000.00 for the First Tee in honor and memory of Hank Derner. A big well done for Kao and a tip of the hat to the members that participated.
The USGA ran a recent article called “Tee It Forward” concerning speeding up play on the course, which has also been a topic for our own course recently. Apparently, as we age we lose distance on our drives, probably not you, but certainly the guys you play with! It may be time to swallow your pride and move it up to the next Tee box, you’ll enjoy playing a lot more and everyone out on the course will thank you for it.
If you would like to walk your favorite fairway just once without having to look for a lost ball, be sure you’re a part of RAMP. Just once a month plus you get a big donut when you’re finished. Call the coordinator, Bea Davis at 773-8142 and she’ll find a spot for you.
It’s still almost two months away, but mark your calendar for Saturday, September 10th and be sure and answer the call when it goes out for volunteers. That’s the date for the Ninth Annual First Tee Junior Golf Championship Tournament. If you’ve never done it, ask someone who has, a real kick to watch the kids hit that ball!
See you at the monthly meeting, August 3rd------------Be There!
