Timber Creek Men's Golf Club
E-Bulletin
September 15, 2011

If you’re in the middle of a tournament right now, then you know, and if you’re wondering what this is all about, you missed it! The Club Championship (Match Play) is going on right now as this is being written. No details yet and it’s set to wrap up next Friday (23rd) so watch the Bulletin Board or the website, knowing Ernie, he’ll have the results posted before the last player has his shoes cleaned!! This is the one that is featured at the Holiday Brunch and Skills Challenge, when all the great trophies are passed out, so mark your calendar for December 7th and plan to be there. The only other tournament for this month will be Ernie’s Net on the 27th (Fourth Tuesday), a good one to sign up for and make some easy bucks.

It is not too late to contact Tom Shively and let him know you’d be willing to help run your Club in 2012. The slates will be announced at the next General Meeting, October 5th and also nominations can be made from the floor at that time, just be sure your buddy has given you the green light to toss his hat in the ring! Tom’s number is 773-2587.

A big thanks to all that volunteered and helped at the Ninth Annual First Tee Junior Golf Tournament that was held here last Saturday (10th). There were 75 volunteers and they got to witness up close some very awesome golf from a bunch of 12 to 18 year old future “pro’s”!!!! There were a total of 115 juniors that took part in what has become one of the most anticipated events to take place on our course. And a big thanks to Phil Hart, with an assist from Rodger Page, for coordinating the volunteer portion of the tournament.

As mentioned earlier in this bulletin, the next General Meeting is set for October 5th. Doors will be open before 8 AM, pastries, including those great big apple fritters and coffee for everyone and Eddie starts promptly at 8:30. Ed Lick will be handing out leventy seven door prizes and that’s a lot, last month almost everyone picked up something just for being there. Doubly important to be at this one to find out who might be running the club in 2012!! Be there!

Before we get into what’s happening in October, we have a hole in one to report for September, Ed Olsen nailed #6 on the 6th using a 35% hybrid! Way to go Ed!!

As of October 1st your dues are due for 2012. No change from last year, $70.00 payable to TCMGC, applications on the web-site, in the Pro shop, and may even be e-mailed, so do it early as a penalty will be added after December 1st and time seems to move a little faster each year. Also effective on October 4th, tee times will be at 8AM, you can sleep in for another 30 minutes, but we still will play the ball down, no bumps allowed!!! The board will let us know!

Two biggies for the month of October, Autumn Leaves on the 11th and the 4th Annual Member/Guest on the 21st. Sign ups for Autumn Leaves will start on September 25th and you can get signed up now for the Member/Guest, see either Bill Whitney or Martin Wolf for the details, going to be a good one, tee prizes, BBQ lunch, awards by 2 man teams, raffle prizes and a whole lot more.

Timber Creek Cup is flourishing!!!! Just two qualifying tournaments remain to get the points you need to pick up the big pot! That’s Autumn Leaves and The Turkey Shoot in November, so as of now if you’ve signed up and have at least three tournaments under your belt, you’ll need to be in those two to be able to win it all. It will be a welcome addition to your savings account, made possible by your entry fee plus the generosity of those outside sponsors that kicked in a bundle up front. Give them a big thanks if you have the chance, they are: Coldwell Banker, Gilchrist Golf Carts, Peck Heating and Air, Whisper Hearing Center, and Westlake, Glover & Grahl Financial Advisers. If you have any questions, see Ray Zwemer

Remember, October 5 for the next General Meeting---See you there.
