Timber Creek and Sierra Pines Golf Courses

USGA Rules govern all play, except as modified by local rules.

GENERAL RULES

  1. OUT-OF-BOUNDS - defined by white stakes, street curbing, or home and golf course boundary knee walls.

  2. WATER HAZARDS - defined by yellow stakes or lines.

  3. LATERAL WATER HAZARDS - defined by red stakes or lines.

  4. ENVIRONMENTALLY- SENSITIVE AREAS (ESAs) - hazards as defined by yellow or red stakes with green tops, chains, or split rail fences with ESA signs attached. DO NOT ENTER OR PLAY from ESA areas.

  5. Keep cart on cart path around tees and greens. Avoid wet, bare or damaged areas.

  6. No trespassing on private property.

  7. Golfers are responsible for injury or damage to persons, vehicles, or homes that they cause while playing golf or otherwise using these facilities.

  8. The golf course is irrigated with reclaimed water. Do not drink from sprinklers or drink any water from the lakes.

  9. Yardages from markers are to the center of the green.

  10. Metal spikes are prohibited.

  11. Please repair ball marks and divots. Leave rake in bunker after use.

LOCAL RULES

  1. Free relief for stance and area of intended swing from 150-yard rocks, retaining walls, staked trees, flower beds, restrooms, and decomposed granite paths. (Does not include knee walls.)

  2. Split Rail Fences: Attached red stakes indicate the hazard as an ESA. The base of fence posts defines the hazard. If a ball is NOT in the hazard (touching a fence post or the line between two posts), the player may take free relief from a stake or the fence for stance and swing, no penalty [Rule 24-2b(i)].

  3. French Drains, in closely mown areas, shall be played as Ground Under Repair. Free relief for lie and stance.

  4. Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies).

  5. Observe proper golf attire and etiquette.

  6. Observe cart path rules for the day.

PACE OF PLAY

It is the responsibility of each group to keep pace with the group ahead. If your group is more than one complete hole behind the group ahead, you may be asked to pick up your ball and move forward into position. "Player Assistance" has the authority to keep play moving at proper pace for all players' enjoyment.

FLOWER BEDS

For the protection of the golf course, play is prohibited from flower beds (not barked areas).

DROP AREAS

Optional drop areas are provided on holes 3 and 6 of the Lakes Course and hole 2 on the Pines Course.

Hole 3 Lakes: The lakes are LATERAL WATER HAZARDS defined by red stakes or lines. A ball is in the hazard when any part of it lies in or TOUCHES the margin (line) of the hazard. Rule 26-1 defines relief for a ball in the hazard. The DROP AREA near the right side lake is NOT to be used for a ball entering the hazard, except when the ball would be dropped in the flower bed (relief). Such ball is to be played from the Drop Area. Penalty--one stroke.

A ball in the flower beds on the right side--between the lake and the cart path as well as the cart path and the knee wall--is to be played from the DROP AREA. No penalty. DO NOT PLAY from the flower beds. Note: if there is a question if a player's ball was hit into the flower bed to the right of the cart path, and the player and player's group cannot agree that it was, the ball is to be played as a Lost Ball from the Drop Area. Penalty--one stroke.

WATERFOWL DROPPINGS

The presence of substantial numbers of droppings from Canada Geese and other waterfowl have caused unique and unusual "Abnormal Ground Conditions" that may interfere with a player's stance or area of intended swing. For specifics, see Local Rules Waterfowl.
