Men’s Club Gold Tee Policy

This policy applies to those members that wish to play from the Gold Tees.

Normal Men's Club Play

  • All players can play from any tee they desire except for Red Tee restrictions.
  • Normal monitoring of posting issues is the responsibility of the Handicap Committee and nothing in this policy is intended to change that responsibility.

Tournament Play

  • Players with an Index of 20.0 or higher have the option of playing from the Gold Tees.
  • A player’s monthly NCGA handicap record must show at least 6 of the lowest 10 differentials to have been played from the Gold Tees or, in the case of outside play, at courses with a rating/slope of 67.2/115 or less. Tournament Co-Chairmen will check the player’s record to ensure conformance with the 6-of-10 requirement.
  • A player must declare at signup his intention to play from the Gold Tees.
  • If a Gold Tee player is in a flight that has Blue Tee competitors, the Gold Tee player must play to a handicap that is two strokes less than the course handicap calculated from his NCGA Index. This requirement is established to account for the difference in course rating between Gold and Blue Tees (67.2 vs. 69.0).
  • The Medal (Stroke) Play Championship and the Match Club Championship tournaments will consist of unmixed flights. In these two tournaments there will be no Gold Tee players mixed in with Black, Blue or Red Tee players.
  • The Tournament Committee may at its discretion designate other events as “unmixed flight” tournaments.
  • Depending on the number of Gold Tee signups, the Tournament Committee may split these players into more than one Gold flight.

Meal Refunds

The TCMGC enters into contracts with food caterers who provide meals at selected golf tournaments and other events related to the club. In order to provide an adequate number of meals and related services, the caterer must have a reliable count of attendees. The Men’s Club is required to provide this count sufficiently in advance so the caterer can order food and otherwise prepare for the event. Once the count is provided and the food has been ordered, the money to pay the caterer is committed.

Therefore, it is the policy of the Timber Creek Men’s Golf Club that when a member pays the fee required of a catered meal related to a club event, there will be no refund after eight days prior to the event, except that refunds will be made should the caterer fail to provide the subject meal.
