Committee Reports

Tournaments:

Club:  Bill Whitney announced that each tournament would have 2 Tournament Directors. All details are on the web site.  The first event of the year will be the Annual Valentines (Pink ball) tournament.  Pick your own team, and play will be from the modified blue tees.  It is going to be “lovely”

Travel:  Dick Gilberg/Dick Maxey reported that the schedule is now down to 4 from 5 as it was very difficult in dealing with Auburn Valley CC so they were dropped.  The first tournament will be April 13th at Turkey Creek.  Fees will continue at $55.00.  Other events will be 6/29 at Ancil Hoffman, 8/24 at Diamond Oaks and 9/28 at Teal Bend.

Web Site:  Dick commented on the ease with which one can now use scrgolf.com, our newly designed web site.

NCGA:  Bill Aaberg discussed the four NCGA events that we should be interested in:  The Sr. Net; Sacramento Area Zone; the Sr. 4 Ball, and a new event the Team Match Play.  Sign up sheets are in the golfer’s room and information is on the web site and on the bulletin board in front of the pro shop.

Rules:  Tom Devitt reported on local rules being consolidated, updated, are on the website and will be on the new scorecards.  Tom commented on a particular ruling:  ball at rest, playable, in a hazard but against a drainage pipe. Is there relief?  No.

Membership:  Jack Chittick noted that there are 356 members down from 387 in 2008.  Jack encouraged everyone to encourage new residents to become members.

Handicaps:  Paul Wilmoth discussed “P” scores and how they are applied.  He noted that if you play 13 holes, you should post an 18 hole score using the handicap scores for holes not completed.  If you play 12 or less than you should post a 9 hole score.

Golf Committee:   Martin Wolf, Chair, reported that their meeting would be at 2:00pm in the Aspen Room.  He commented on Scott Johnson a lawyer that specializes in ADA litigation, that we are making every effort including a special golf cart to be in compliance with ADA regulations.  One more attempt at discouraging the geese is a toy motor boat.  On January 19th, there was a golf course inspection.  Our course as all of you know continues to be in excellent condition.

RAMP, Resident Assisted Maintenance Program:  Joe Lavett reported that he is still trying to get a coordinator on the lakes to replace Paul Williams.  Joe explained the use of sand bottles on carts, noting that they should be filled with sand prior to use to be more effective.

Old Business:  Ray thanked Phil Hart, Roy Lloyd, Don Hug, and Rodger Page for a great 2008.

New Business:

Ray announced that in March we would have a speaker talking about Srs. helping Roseville students, in April, Elaine Lehman, Fitness Director, will speak on fitness for golf and in May, we would have a chiropractor specializing in golf injury and rehabilitation.

Phil Hart thanked all who helped in the distribution of Telephone Directories.  Phil noted that some 2400 had been delivered resulting in a savings to the association of some $2000.00.  A good job.

Rodger Page encouraged members to join in the Thursday Golf 4 Man Team play.

Ray commented on the Sierra Pine expansion plan and urged the members to vote.

Door Prizes:  Ray announced Heeeeeres Joey, and there were a number of door prizes awarded.
