Call to Order
Ray Zwemer, President, called the meeting to order at 8:30 am.
Ray noted that Summer Rules were in effect and that our Tuesday Shot guns would be at 7:30 am
Quorum
Gerry Lane reported that there were 88 present, a quorum.
Minutes from previous
meeting
The minutes of the meeting of March 4, 2009 were approved as submitted.
Golf Course
Jim Ferrin, G.C Superintendent, reported on work in several areas: Arification would be completed today and he was proud of the work his crew had done. He felt that the greens should be back in a couple of weeks. Will do tees next. Sprinkler replacement on the Pines has been completed and that Kirby Markers will be installed on all courses soon with new colored markings. ÒstuffÓ in the ponds is Zola which comes in via birds will be sprayed out.
Proshop
Mark Gouger, Head Golf Professional, commented on a number of items: April is a good month to get out and play! March was surprisingly good for the budget. Spirit Days are April 20-22. There will be lots of activities with an open golf tournament on the 20th and a two day men’s and ladies mixed event on the 21st and 22nd. There will be clinics and demo days. The pro shop is getting in a lot of equipment and a new line of shirts. April is Men’s Shirt Month. Almost all shirts are on sale.
Marks’ Tip of the Month dealt with Shoulder Tilt and how we should try to maintain the natural tilt for consistent swing results.
Mark and Jim were both thanked for their efforts on our behalf.

Ray introduced Elaine Lehman, Sun
City Fitness director. Elaine
discussed the refurbishing of the fitness center and stated that it would
reopen on April 20th the start of Spirit Days. She also spoke on 4 aspects of fitness,
Cardiovascular, Flexibility, Strength and Balance, and various exercises for
each aspect. She also discussed
a new class, Strength and Yoga for Golfers.
Treasurers Report
Ed Steele, Treasurer, presented the status of funds report showing a current balance in all accounts of $14,510.23. Report was approved.
Committee Reports
Tournaments:
Club: Bill Whitney reported on St. Patrick’s Day Tournament. Well run and lots of awards. There will be not tournament on April due to Spirit Days. The next club event will be The Medal Play Championship, May12th and 14th, a two day event and the scores for each day will be “T” scores
Putting Championship: Rodger Page announced that the Annual Putting Championship would be Friday April 24th at Sierra Pines; Phil Hart was taking sign ups. Rodger also announced the 12th Annual Sun City Foundation Tournament, for Men Ladies and Mixed flights.
Travel: Dick Gilberg noted that there was one opening for the first tournament April 13th at Turkey Creek. The next event will be 6/29 at Ancil Hoffman.
Web Site: Dick commented on the ease with which one can now use scrgolf.com, our newly designed web site. He also demonstrated the use of the web site in finding Jim Ferrin’s report and the use of the site map.
NCGA: Bill Aaberg noted
that he is waiting for more information on the Team match Play. He announced that the Sac Area Zone
Team Hank
Derner, Tom Devitt, Ed Lick and Jim Knight had been disqualified! ÒApril
FoolÓ, and Ed Lick & Joe Lavette are the qualifiers in the Sr. Net.
Rules: Tom Devitt reported on the rules of play. “Put the ball in play, keep hitting it until it is in the hole and then pick it up”. He also commented on dropping the ball and some instances were a drop must be taken and how to proceed.
Membership: Jack Chittick noted that there are 359 members.
Handicaps: Paul Wilmoth noted that we will have two “T” score tournaments this year. One will be in May, and the other will be the Autumn Leaves. This will result in 3 “T” scores for the year.
Golf Committee: Martin Wolf, Chair, reported that their meeting would be at 2:00pm in the Aspen Room. He commented on two resident concerns to the committee: 1, a tree planted near the 10th green was obstructing the residents view of the golf course, 2, cut edges on bunkers and rakes in bunkers.
RAMP, Resident Assisted Maintenance Program: Joe Lavett reported that Bill Mathews will coordinate
the trespasser program.
Old Business: Ray announced that our speaker for the May 6th meeting would be Todd Bunning, Chiropractor.
New Business:
Ray announced that an agreement had been reached with Sun City Lincoln Hills on a date for the Sun City Cup. It will be Monday, June 22nd at Lincoln Hills. The cost will be $60.00 and include lunch, range balls, green fees, and prizes.
Door Prizes: Ray announced Heeeeeres Joey, and there were a number of door prizes awarded.
