Ray Zwemer, President, called the meeting to order at 8:30 am.

Minutes from previous
meeting
The minutes of the meeting of August 5, 2009 were approved as submitted.
Proshop/Golf Course
Jim Ferrin, G.C. Superintendent reported for Mark, announced that the Rose Cup would be played October 16-17th and that a qualification tournament would be held September 15th for those interested in competing. Jim noted that GC maintenance staff had a little 3 hole event to acquaint the staff with the game and give them a better understanding and reasons for some of the things they work on, such as placing of tee markers. Aerification of greens has gone well and mowing will begin today at the Pines and continue throughout the next few days with ever expectation that the course will be in tip top condition for the 1st Tee Championship. Staff is now dealing a with skunk problem on the courses. More traps have been purchased and will be placed for trapping and removal.
Ray announced the annual carnival to be held September 26th and noted that the club had made a donation to the event and that Mark and Kevin would be manning the dunk tank. Ray also commented on an article in the Sac Bee in regards to the 1st Tee kids playing in the Wal-Mart Tournament at Pebble Beach Labor Day weekend and that some of the players would be competing here at Timber Creek in the Championship the next week end. Ray also encouraged volunteering for the Championship. Ray introduced Bill Gould the Sun City Coordinator. Bill thanked all the volunteers and noted that they are also encouraging monetary donations to the event. Rodger and Phil noted that they would like someone to take over the spotter/shuttler volunteer duties.
Treasurers Report
Ed Steele, Treasurer, presented the status of funds report showing a current balance in all accounts of $15,780.80 as of August 16th. The report was approved.
Committee Reports
Club Tournaments:
Leon Dean congratulated the North on winning the North/South. He then noted that the next event would be the Annual Autumn Leaves and that it would be a “T” score event so do not post, the H/C committee will be doing that. He then reported on the 2nd Annual Member/Guest to be held September 25th with an 8:oo am shotgun and lunch to follow. Guest passes may be used for your guest. There will be two flights, one for guests w/o a handicap.
Ray reported that the Hot August Mixer was a great event with 128 players and that plans would be made to do this again in 2010.
Travel:
Dick Gilberg noted that the event at Diamond Oaks on August 24 had 24 players. The next and final event of the year will be at Teal Bend on September 28th and sign ups are being taken.
Web Site:
Dick Gilberg displayed and discussed general information and forms on the web site. Also that various are golf courses are listed for information.
NCGA:
Bill Aaberg noted that the Team Match Play events are going well. We are now one of 16 teams out of 120 that started and play our next match against Table Mountain in Oroville on the 10th
Rules:
Tom Devitt reported on a stroke resulting in the ball being broken, shall be replayed with out penalty. It is the player’s responsibility to identify his ball. If imbedded, there is a proper procedure to be used in order to identify the ball. It may be marked, lifted (not cleaned) and replaced w/o penalty. Tom also discussed movable and immovable obstructions and the procedures used for taking relief. Then he discussed relief from arification holes. Local Rule is required as these holes are not considered ground under repair.
Membership:
Ray reported for Jack Chittick that there are 362 members.
Handicaps:
Paul Wilmoth noted there will be no “P” scores after the next event as the H/C committee will post all scores. However, anyone that plays and is not in the tournament must post their scores as the committee will not be posting these scores.
Golf Committee:
Roger Tovey, Chair, introduced the new members of the committee that were present and belonged to the Men’s Club and noted that the next meeting would be at 2:00 PM today and invited all to attend.
Ray thanked Martin Wolf for his service on the Golf Committee.
RAMP, Resident
Assisted Maintenance Program:
Joe Lavette reported that the
RAMP schedule for September is Lakes 3rd, Oaks, 10th, and Pines, 17th at 7:00
am.
Old Business:
The bylaws changes will be included in the process for recertifying the club next year. Dick Gilberg and Rodger Page are the committee.
New Business:
Ray announced that there is a new requirement in signing up for Tuesday play by noting “NM” for a non member on the entry form to facilitate the pro shop in determining eligibility for play.
Ray also announced that our club would be helping with other clubs in the delivery of Association Documents later in the fall. Phil Hart is organizing this project.
Ray also noted that membership renewal will begin October 1st, and the next meeting will be October 7th at 8:30 am.
Door Prizes:
Ray announced Heeeeeres Joey, and there were a number of door prizes awarded.
