Ray Zwemer, President, called the meeting to order at 8:30 am.
Quorum
There were 73 present + 1 guest, a quorum.
Hole-In-One
Awards to Don Ebaugh, Oaks hole #4 with 11 wood, and to Jim Knight, Oaks hole #14 with 6-iron. Flag and $50 check were given to each.
Minutes from previous meeting
The minutes of the meeting of September 2, 2009 were approved as submitted.
Golf Course
Jim Ferrin reported on over seeding in process on the Oaks with new machines. He wants to maintain playable surfaces for residents, which is a work in progress. Small type plants (native grasses) will be planted by creek on hole #11. The sprinkler control project will be worked on. Four new mowers have been requested. He is reviewing the waterfall on #18. A lot of housekeeping to be done i.e. ball washers, ground under repair areas and etc. Ponds need work but our ponds are in better shape than other courses. Bark under oak trees will be replaced with another product.
Pro Shop
Mark Gouger said he has been here five years and is still excited to come to work everyday. New reservation system for the public is in effect today. Will not impact residents. Residents should use 774-3851 for making reservations. Do not use 774-3850 as this will go to an automated system. Residents can use the online reservation system on the resident website. Rose Cup will be held at Woodcreek GC on October 16th and at Timber Creek GC on October 17th. Players have been selected. If you use your American Express credit card to pay for golf lessons you can bring in another person to join you at no additional cost. Sort of a 2 for 1 offer. Mark gave a golf tip on “Thinking over the Ball”.
Treasurers Report
Ed Steele, Treasurer, presented the status of funds report showing a current balance in all accounts of $12,493.71 as of September 23, 2009. The report was approved as presented.
Committee Reports
Club Tournaments:
Bill Whitney reported on the September tournaments which were the Autumn Leaves and the 2nd annual Member/Guest which consisted of 34 members and 34 guests with two nine hole formats. Club Championship sign up ends today. Jim Knight and Dean Trapp are the co-chairs. Play will be over a 2 week period beginning Tuesday, October 13th.
Leon Dean presented the information on the November 10th Turkey Shoot tournament. There will be A.M. and P.M. play and sign ups will begin October 27th. Bill Mathews and Martin Wolf will be the co-chairs.
Travel:
Dick Maxey reported on the success of the 2009 travel events and statistics were presented on the overhead. Questionnaire was sent out to members about 2010 choices. Ray recognized the work Dick Gilberg has done on the travel events.

NCGA:
Bill Aaberg reported on the NCGA team event that our 12 man team made the final 16 teams competition but lost to Table Mountain. Bill said in the winter to replace your divot with a divot rather than sand. He had several sand bottles to give out.
Rules:
Tom Devitt: Discussed Lost Ball and provisional ball, Ball in Hazard, and new local rule regarding aeration holes.
Membership:
Ray reported for Jack Chittick that there are 360 members. Ray presented a Governing Board recommendation that 2010 club dues be reduced by $3.00 to $32.00 to partially offset the 2010 NCGA increase of $6.00. Total combined dues would be $68.00 and Ray entertained a motion as such. The motion was made and seconded and discussion followed. After a discussion period the motion was voted and the motion carried.
Handicaps:
Paul Wilmoth reported that members need to do a better job in using equitable stroke control (ESC). Many are not adjusting their scores for posting purposes. An ESC table was presented on the overhead. Also ongoing is the lack of names, dates, and two signatures on the scorecards.
Golf Committee:
Roger Tovey, Chair & Vice-Chair Rodger Page were not present so there was no report.
RAMP, Resident Assisted Maintenance Program:
Joe Lavette reported that the RAMP schedule for October is Lakes 8th, Pines 15th, and Oaks 22nd all at 7:00 am. This will be the final RAMP month for 2009.
Old Business:
Slate of 2010 Club Officers was presented by Joe Lavette, Chair of the nominating committee. Ray asked for nominations from the floor and there were none. Those nominated were: President-Paul Wilmoth, Vice-President-Eddie Lewis, Secretary-Rodger Page, and Treasurer-Ray Sylvia. Election will be held at the November general meeting.
New Business:
Holiday Party: VP Joey Mastrantonio is in charge of this year’s event to be held on Wednesday, December 2nd. It will be a sit-down breakfast followed by a skills challenge. Cost will be $10pp and sign up begins November 1st.
Deliveries: Phil Hart, in charge of the distribution of Association Rule Books, reported we had 53 volunteers plus many spouses. A majority was men’s club members but in addition help was also given by the Women’s Golf Club and the Golden Niners. We delivered over 2,300 books and left cards at the remaining 800 plus homes.
Door Prizes:
The club under the direction of Joey Mastrantonio gave out a number of door prizes.
