Special Announcement:  Bill Gould made a plea for members to join in playing in and supporting the 1st Tee High Five scholarship Tournament, July 16th.  The 9 hole event is pretty well filled up, but players are still needed for the 18 hole event.  Bill was very pleased that this event and other support last year contributed to the awarding of 7 Scholarships, totaling $4000.00 at an awards ceremony at Haggin Oaks recently.  We are still in need of sponsorships in hopes of reaching a goal of $5000.00 this year.

Pro Shop

Mark Gouger, Head Golf Professional reported that we are off to a good start for July after some tough months due to weather.  Pass Sales are going well.  We are committed to helping the 1st Tee with two events this year, the High Five Scholarship event on the 16th of July and the Championship in September.  Need more players for the event on the 16th. Golf Course (s) are in great shape.. Keep Playing!!!!!

Committee Reports

Club Tournaments:

Leon Dean reporting for Ernie Bell, Chair, reported results of the Member/Member in June, noting that there were 76 players and 87% of the field got prize money.  The next event is the Fire Cracker, Roy Stearns and Leon working.  Sign-ups end today. This will be a team event and individual low net/low gross prizes. The Annual North/South will be in August

Travel:

Dick Maxey, Chair, stated that the Plumas Lakes event was with bill Manning winning low gross and Dale Bird winning low net.  The next event is Turkey Creek.

NCGA:

Bill Aaberg, Chair, reported that Ed Lick and Joey Mastrantonio played in the Senior Net Championship Round, June 6 and 7th along with John Jamison, who had qualified as an individual. Ed and Joey played well, and John played better coming in 3rd.  Congratulations John.

Bill also commented on the NCGA Team Match play in the summer. There will be 6 matches.  Timber Creek will be in a division with Ancil Hoffman, Haggin Oaks and Turkey Creek.  The first match with Turkey Creek at Timber Creek, June 10th was won 23-13, the second we lost 16-20, but Bill thought this was a very respectable outing.  The next match is with Haggin Oaks on the 9th, followed by Turkey Creek on the 22nd.

Rules:

Tom Devitt, Chair, reported that there were no reportable rules incidents of late.  He did note a rules event that occurred in one of the team matched where a player had teed of from the wrong location and thought that there was a 2 stroke penalty.  However it was determined that in match play there was no penalty and the player could be asked to take the stroke over, which he did with out penalty.  Helps to know the rules!
