Team Match CompetitionThe Timber Creek Men's Club has decided to sponsor a team for the NCGA Team Match Competition. The team will consist of twelve players, with alternates. Teams compete in one of two schedules, Thursday or Saturday. We have decided to compete in the Thursday matches. Players will use their current handicap index, with a maximum of 18.4, to calculate their course handicap. Players with a current handicap index higher than 184 are eligible to compete but must play tot he 18.4 maximum. The club professional or assistant professional may participate as a team member if they have a numeric index. Team GroupingsTeam Groupings are based primarily on the clubs within the group. Generally, this means that clubs will be grouped with similar clubs, private or public. Of nearly equal significance in determining groupings is a participating club's geographical location and willingness to travel. Conditions of PlayParticipating clubs will host green fees for visiting teams and make their courses available for any scheduled and/or make-up matches. Clubs participating in the playoffs will host practice rounds for the six opponents/guests who will be competing at their club. Host Team Captains are responsible for setting starting times. Format/ScoringEach team of two players plays the opposing team of two players in three simultaneous matches: two individual matches and a Four-Ball (best ball of partners) match. Individual matches are played for two points. The Four-Ball match is also played for two points. There are six points possible in each group. Group winners will be determined by awarding two points for a win, one point for a tie, and zero points for a loss. The team with the greatest number of points will be declared the winner. Play Off Matches and ChampionshipAll group winners will participate in a single elimination playoff to determine the overall Team Champions. Only players who have participated during the regular season will be eligible to participate in the playoff matches and championship.
